Below is a summary of the main items that were discussed that the October PTA meetings. These are high-level summaries, if you require any further detail on any of the items, please contact your class rep or the PTA by email [email protected]
New Members
We welcomed four new members to the PTA Committee; Martin Barry, Stephanie Woodhouse, Ciarán Rehill and Emily de Grae.
PTA AGM
There was a fantastic turnout from parents and guardians for the PTA AGM held at the end of September 2018 and we received positive feedback on the talk given by Prof. John Sharry. The minutes of the AGM will be placed on the school noticeboard and new website, in addition to being circulated to the parent body via the PTA class lists. A special thanks to the parents who put themselves forward as nominations for the male parent rep on the BoM and congratulations to Ciarán Rehill who was elected on the night.
New PTA Constitution
Following feedback from parents, the School Managment and the Patron Body, the PTA are updating the proposed PTA Constitution. This will be circulated to parents/guardians prior to being ratified at a PTA EGM.

Autumn Fair – Sunday 21st October 2018
The Autumn Fair Committee from 2nd Class is continuing with their hard work in preparing for the biggest PTA fundraiser of the year. In 2017, this event raised over €15,000, which led to the PTA being able to fund Art Day, 6th Class Graduation, newsletters, the school garden as well as contributing €9,500 to the school, which was used to fund Library books and IT equipment. Please support this event by volunteering to help (contact[email protected]), baking and donating items for sale. It’s a fun day for all the family so encourage neighbours and extended family to attend.
Extra Curricular Activites (ECA’s)
ECA’s are up and running thanks to the enormous work put in by the PTA Sub-Committee of Amanda, Grainne, and Louise. There are 10 activities on offer each week with approximately 180 children enrolled in ECA’s this term. This PTA sub-committee is looking for volunteers from the parent body – contact Amanda ([email protected])
STEAM Sub-Committee
Members of STEAM Sub-Committee and School Managment met with Talent Garden (TAG) manager Deirdre Murphy to discuss our cooperation in relation to STEAM for GETNS. TAG has committed to getting involved in organising one event per month for our school in their space (which is just beside the school). The STEAM Sub-Committee is working on organising the first event – “Tech-play for little minds”.
