Thank you to our Green team who promoted walking to school this week. In the interest of safety please have a look at the guidance document and take particular care if driving.
Car Safety
Option 2 (extract from Guidance document)
Drop child off inside school grounds; use set-down area
- Always give way to pedestrians at the entrance.
- Limit your speed to 5kmph within the school grounds.
- Use the set-down parking areas, always ensuring you pull into the left, so that children exit the vehicle onto the safety of the footpath. Do not allow children to exit on the righthand-side of the vehicle, forcing them to emerge into the road carriageway.
- Demand for the set down area is high, therefore please move on without delay to free up the space for the next parent.
- Use the roundabout: No reversing or U-turning please. All vehicles have blind spots, which can easily mask the presence of small children.
- If there is no room to pull in fully to the set down area, please wait until a space becomes.
Only those with parking permits can park at exit car and this is only possible on the right-hand side of the avenue when you come in the gate (i.e. no parking on left hand side or set down area).
Pedestrian Safety
- Pedestrians do not use the car gate.
- Remind children to stand back, give each other space and walk through the pedestrian gate.
Child Safeguarding
Following a review of Child Protection, please see updated Child Safeguarding Risk Assessment and Child Safeguarding Statement which includes revised procedures 2023 (click here).
Isabel and Elsa (5th class) have volunteered to edit the school newspaper and have requested contributions from all pupils to be sent to [email protected].
And More!
Third class had a fantastic trip to the Botanic Gardens last Friday. We spotted as many birds as possible. We saw a heron on the River Tolka. We saw a beautiful sculpture in the Bontanic Gardens that celebrated seeds. We found a sycamore tree. We can identify it by its leave and seeds. We let our helpful, kind and empathetic ANA Val know how much we love her … Kathy
Sylvia’s 5th class – We finished our class project on Local History and learnt a huge amount from each other. We learnt about Art Deco Architecture and examples of that style in our locality. Check out the display of our project work and models of Drumcondra library.
Pictured is our boys football team in action against St Patrick’s NS in Palmerston this afternoon.
Reminder

Can all children please bring raincoats to school everyday so children will be prepared for yard if it’s raining.
