The newly elected PTA met for the first time in 2014 on Wednesday 8th January, under the stewardship of new joint Chairs Lisa Davy & Laura Curry. We reviewed the current PTA accounts and our treasurer Pete Hardy shared the budget for estimated spend in 2014. PTA funds are used throughout the year to support events such as Art Day, the school garden and the 6th Class graduation, as well as the costs incurred in printing the school calendars and newsletter. We also provide funds to cover a teachers “wish list” which in the past year has ensured the provision of a number of key items including new Irish books, novels, lap tops for the resource room as well as a new sound system and cameras for additional classes.
The proposed new school build was also discussed at length, and the PTA will be putting together a sub committee in the near future to liaise on our behalf with the BOM in relation to the new build process, and the logistics involved in our successfully achieving our wish of the inclusion of a school hall.
If anyone in the wider parent body would like to be involved in this sub committee, please let us know via [email protected].
