Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,
Board of Management 2015 – 2019
Thank you to the outgoing Board of Management and particular thanks to Aoife, who has supported the school as treasurer of the past 4 years. We appreciate everything you have done. Thank you to the Patron nominee Aaron and to the two fabulous Community nominees Mary and Francesca. Thank you to the two teachers who have given up their time generously, Niamh and Danielle. I’m always blown away by how much schools depend on experienced skilled volunteers. This Board has been a great support to me always remaining child centred, guided by the ET ethos, and very balanced and fair in all matters, sharing relevant insights from a range of perspectives.
Formation of a new Board
We now have six members of the Board, including two parents, Ciarán and Aisling. The next step is for the six to meet next week to nominate two Community representatives.
Sam Paid to Visit to the School
There was great excitement when Sam arrived, accompanied by local legends Johnny Cooper and Eoin Murchan. Thanks to Mark in Na Fianna for the madness after the no homework announcement!
Bake Sale for Dogs Trust
Well done to the 5th class children for the initiative and ability to carry out a successful bake sale today in aid of Dogs Trust. Thanks Naomi for supporting them.
Book Fair
As per the email this week you’ll have an opportunity to buy books at good value from 1:20pm to 1:45pm and 2:20pm to 2:45pm next Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday. The school benefit from this by getting a voucher to purchase further books for the school. Parents are responsible for their children during this time.
We are very proud of David, 5th Class, who was selected to go to Dáil Éireann to debate and vote on Climate Matters. Please see his account below.

David’s Account of RTE’s Youth Assembly on Climate Matters
“I was chosen to go to Dáil Éireann for the RTE Youth Assembly on climate matters. In the morning we registered ourselves and got put into different groups. I was in the environment group.
We then went over to the Dáil and went inside. When we arrived we went straight into the chamber. The Ceann Comhairle greeted us and we made our opening speeches. He thanked us and concluded the opening session.
We went into our different groups, split up into the committee rooms. We had all written a proposal and voted on our top six. We then debated on them and narrowed it down to two proposals.
After that we had lunch and went into the chamber. We read out our proposals and officially presented them to him. He thanked us and we left.
After that there was a reception at RTE and I planted a tree. You can see the full thing on www.rte.ie/youthassembly.”
