Marathon Kids Final Mile Event at Morton Stadium

A huge well done to all our 6th class students who completed their final mile of the Marathon Kids programme in Morton Stadium in Santry yesterday.

Over the last 8 weeks, each child managed to run a whopping 42 kilometers and learned lots about health and fitness along the way.

A massive thank you to Dublin City Sport & Wellbeing Partnership for supplying the booklets, t-shirts and medals and a special mention to our local Sports Officer, John MacDonald, for facilitating the programme.

2nd class were learning about Andy Goldsworthy and created some pieces of art in nature of their own afterwards.  Áine

Third class enjoyed a very interesting and creative trip to IMMA last Friday. We toured the ‘Self -determination. A Global Perspective’ exhibit. It included art works representing the establishment of new counties across Europe and the globe at the turn of the 20th century. We then created our own dioramas to represent a slice of our own lives.  Kathy

A new Student Council has been established. The newly elected student council representatives are looking forward to getting to know the children in the classes they represent and gathering their suggestions for making our school a better place for everyone. Kathy

This week Fifth Class welcomed a visit from two representatives from the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications.  The two Fifth classes learnt about Ireland’s usage of renewable energy, plans for the future and also shared their own projects on renewable energy with the visitors. It was a really interesting afternoon! Beccy and Sylvia

The pupils are loving our athletics coaching session with Shane from Athletics Ireland! Today we practised our long jump!  Lisa

We had lots of fun doing different investigations for science week!  Lisa

This is 2nd class who designed and made paper airplanes for science week. This is the launch!

Science Week activities in Niamh’s Senior Infants

This week we completed two experiments. Our first experiment was Magic Milk. We created patterns in milk by using three smalls drops of food colouring to a bowl of milk. We then added washing up liquid, which bonded with the fat in the milk, forcing the food colouring to be pushed around the bowl.

Our next experiment was the colour run test. We created secondary colours by mixing primary colours together. Using paper towels, the two colours moved from their original glasses and met in the middle to create green/orange/purple! This experiment took a lot of patience as the water moved very slowly.
