Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

We are sad to hear of the recent passing of Colm Keogh principal of Wicklow ETNS.  Our thoughts are with his family and with the whole school community as they come to terms with this at such a busy time.

Open Hour

Thanks to those who took the opportunity to come into the school last night.  We had a small but appreciative bunch and thanks to Rachel and Michele for tasty tea and goodies.

Park ‘n Stride

As planned, we have begun to prepare the children for the option of using the park ‘n stride area from September.  Niamh from DCC and Colin, chairperson of the PTA, accompanied a number of classes on our walk to and from the area, highlighting safety issues in particular safe crossing at the main junction.  Niamh has suggested we carry out a park ‘n stride colouring competition where the children design a parking ‘n stride permit, details to follow.

Brass Band

It was delightful to have some quality ceol from the RIAM Brass Band today in the hall.  Please see attached information in relation to free music lesson for children.  This is a great opportunity on a first come, first serve basis.  With thanks to Oisín and Pádraig, you can enjoy a little glimpse in the attached video.

Art Day

We are getting very excited while Karen and crew are frantically busy behind the scenes – thank you (see below).  Remind your child(ren) to bring in a plain t-shirt and glass jar.

As the bike shed will be used for Art activities on this day the children who normally use the bike shed will park their bikes at a designated spot along the hedge.

Congratulations to Seán in 3rd Class. Seán was awarded Drumcondra Football Club’s U10’s Player of The Year over the weekend. A super achievement! Well done, Seán.

Logo Update

We are very grateful to Johanna, Lucia’s mum, who is designing our logo.  Having looked at some samples and thought about it Glasnevin ETNS will work and sound best, preventing us from being confused with Galway ETNS and sometimes called GENTS.  Any strong objections from anyone please let me know as soon as possible.

ART DAY – FOOD ROOM

If you can’t make Art Day this year (Friday 17th June – yup, that’s next week!!) don’t worry you can still play a big part! We need LOTS OF DONATIONS FOR THE FOOD ROOM to help us feed all the great volunteers that make Art Day such a success.

SO WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

SOME SWEET STUFF FOR COFFEE BREAK: Cakes, biscuits and all baked goods always go down well, and don’t worry if you are not a baker or don’t have the time – shop bought is just as appreciated! No nuts please due to allergies.

We also need LOTS OF SAVOURY FOOD for the main lunch break on the day – so please send in salads (all types – mixed lettuce, coleslaw, pasta salad grain salads etc), quiches, savory tarts, meats, cheeses etc   Again, don’t feel you have to get making – all the main shops have great salads, quiches and tarts these days!   As we have lots of vegetarians, vegans and coeliac volunteers please label any food that is veggie or gluten free.

Any items that don’t need refrigeration can be dropped into the Food Room (school hall) at drop off on Thursday 16th but all other items – i.e. anything perishable – must be dropped off on the morning of the 17th – our Food Room volunteers will be there from 8.40am.

AND DON’T FORGET, IF YOU WANT THE CONTAINERS BACK AFTERWARDS, PLEASE LABEL THEM CLEARLY WITH YOUR NAME (OR YOUR CHILDS NAME AND CLASS).

All containers will be available for collection in the food room at the end of the day. Any not collected on the day will be left in the kitchen area.

From ECA Committee to Families

We need your feedback!

Following the lifting of Covid 19 restrictions we were delighted to re-introduce extracurricular activities to the school community and would like to take the time to thank the school board of management, principal and teachers for their ongoing support. In advance of the next school calendar year we are looking for your feedback and thoughts and opinions. We were delighted to see so many children avail of their activities of choice, and we apologise to anyone who didn’t get to their first option this time around. We want to facilitate as many children as possible and continuously strive to offer a wide variety of classes to suit everyone’s need. We are therefore asking everyone to fill out the following anonymous survey. We look to provide a selection of activities albeit dependent on class numbers, days, space and service provider availability.

Thanks for your time and patience
