Garda Vetting

We have been informed that the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 to 2016 will be commencing on 29th April 2016. Current procedures for processing applications for Garda Vetting now need to change and criminal offences will apply in the event of failure to comply with these requirements.

It is now necessary that any adult wishing to undertake any activity with children will have to be Garda vetted under the new Act. This includes parents working with children in classrooms or at afterschool activities, and Art Day/Autumn Fair volunteers.

All Garda Vetting applications must be made on an updated application form and include the following documentation:

  • Appropriate photographic ID (e.g. Passport, Drivers Licence etc.)

  • Proof of address (P45, utility bill (but not mobile phone bill), bank/building society statement etc.)

Please email the office if you wish a form to be sent home for completion, with your child.
