December was a busy month for us! Our themes for the month were the Arctic & Santa’s Workshop. We learnt all about the Arctic & different Arctic animals & we wrote our very own reports on polar bears! We enjoyed playing in our Arctic role play area & in Santa’s workshop! We were arctic explores in our arctic role play area – looking out for different arctic animals or pretending to be arctic animals ourselves! Here, we had lots of fun in our igloo too!
In Santa’s Workshop children planned their play to decide which station they would go to – first we designed our toys using catalogues & pictures as inspiration,. Next we assembled the toys as busy elves in the workshop. Then we had to sort through toys to decide if they were up to scratch by doing doing our quality check! Finally, we wrapped the toys to send out to children all over the world & put them in Santa’s sack ready to go!
We did lots of creative & imaginative play in our Arctic small world area & we really loved playing using our imaginations to play in our winter snow area! As usual we created some fantastic junk art, including homes for arctic animals & lots of very festive creations! We really enjoyed building igloos and creating Santa’s Workshop with blocks & we also created some wonderfully imaginative playdough creations!
We also played lots of fun maths & phonics games; we continued to work on our gymnastic skills in PE; we had fun with active breaks in our classroom & we had lots of discussions about what peace means to us, our value of the month for December. We love learning new Gaeilge words & phrases & we are getting more confident using our new Gaeilge vocabulary. We were very proud of our song singing & we loved sharing it with our parents on Seesaw!
We hope you enjoy having a look at the snaps showing what we got up to for the last few weeks!
