As part of our Road Safety Week, Garda Martin kindly visited our school and discussed how to be safe on our roads with students from 2nd-6th class. Garda Martin spoke about how to be safe as a pedestrian, a cyclist & a scooterist! He emphasied how imperative it is to wear a helmet when cycling or scooting! As lots of our children walk, cycle and scoot to school this discussion was very important.

Each class also focused on road safety with their teacher for the week. Students really enjoyed learning the Safe Cross Code song and dance! https://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Road-Safety/Campaigns/Current-road-safety-campaigns/Safe-Cross-Code/Safe-Cross-Code-Dance/

Some pictures below of students having fun being active while demonstrating the Safe Cross Code dance moves!

You need the code to cross the road!

A huge thank you also to our wonderful parent volunteers who heped each morning and afternoon to monitor and direct traffic outside our school. We are very grateful as always for the support of the PTA with sending out daily updates to parents to highlight safe parking and speed in our school vicinity.

This will now be an annual event, with the whole school community being involved!
