School Photographs
The photographers will be in school on Wednesday 12th March to take
• Individual photographs of children in Junior Infant and 6th classes.
• Class group photograph of Junior Infant and 6th classes only.
• Family group photograph.
• Individual photographs of each child who doesn’t have a sibling in the school.
A consent form was sent home to each family. Please complete this and return to your class teacher as soon as possible.

Reminder about Attendance
As per the Department of Education requirement, from Circular 002/2013 page 9, section 3.3 B:
“a pupil will be marked either present or absent at the time of roll call and there will be no provision for adjusting the Roll Book (Leabhar Rolla) where a pupil subsequently does not complete the full school day or arrives after the roll call”
Where children arrive after roll call, they remain marked absent but a note that they are late and the amount of minutes they arrive late is recorded. Teacher is required to call roll by 10am each day and Roll is generally called between 9am and 10am. Formal learning begins in the classroom at 9am but children are engaged in social and circular learning experiences from 08:40 to 09:00 each day. We appreciate your best efforts to have children arrive on time.

School Text Books Amnesty
Can you please check if you have any school readers at home and please drop them back to the school. These may have been brought home a few years ago when COVID lockdown first happened and children were in Infant classes, 1st to 3rd class. They maybe called PM Readers, Sales, Collins Big Cat, Sight & Sounds, etc. Please see photo for some examples. As these books are costly, we would appreciate if you could drop them into Nicky’s office.

Mick Germaine Cup Chess Competition 2025
Two teams from GETNS took part in the annual Mick Germaine Cup Chess Competition in the Artane Beaumont Family Recreation Centre on February 16th. The school was well represented by a full team of children from 3rd Class (The Glasnevin Knights – Rory, Jason, Xavien and Krishang) and a combined team of children from 4th, 5th and 6th (The Glasnevin Kings – Felix, Henry and Casper, with a local sub completing the team). Top scorers were Felix from Sinéad’s 4th (3.5/6 on Board 1 for The Kings) and Krishang and Xavien from Liah’s 3rd for The Knights. The players gave a very good account of themselves, with everyone scoring points, and they thoroughly enjoyed the event. Unfortunately, both Glasnevin teams met in the final round! Experience won through in the end, and the Kings triumphed over the Knights in a closely contested match. Well done to everyone involved. Below are some photos from the event.

Book Fair Update
We have now received all of the new books from Scholastic which were funded by the Book Fair in November. Thanks to the parent organisers and those who helped out at the fair and to everyone who purchased a book. These books will enrich our school library, keeping it up to date with current releases.

Reminder:
• School closure at 12pm on Friday, 14th March 2025 for staff training.
• If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home until they are feeling better.
• When dropping or collecting your child early/late to/from school please ensure you close the pedestrian gate securely on your way in and out of the school.

Frása na Seachtaine:
“Cad at atá agat i gcoir do lón inniu? Inniu tá __________ agam i gcoir mo lón.”
“What have you for your lunch today? I have for my lunch today.”

Le meas
