Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,
David Fitzsimons: Kind-hearted, excellent teacher, international Chess Master
David joined our school on the 1st September 2015 and since then has contributed magnanimously and very consistently to our whole school. David exemplifies our ethos, always role modelling careful listening, thoughtfulness, kindness and authentic respect for all. As a colleague David has been nothing but a pleasure and team player, and an asset to all aspects of school life, always open and willing to contribute. David is an true gentleman and always a good friend to all.
He has taught mainly at the senior end of the school and as an additional mainstream class teacher he excelled also at the junior level and as a regular support in the ALC classes.
Some of the children refer to David as “Basketball David” and will remember him bringing them to Tallaght Basketball Arena. He is frequently referred to as “Chess David” for obvious reasons. David is an International Chess Master since 2018 and was awarded Chess Champion in 2024. Basically, he is one of the best chess players in the World and has competed in the Chess Olympiad representing Ireland. Since he joined the school David has shared this expertise and passion consistently and generously, providing afterschool lessons, organising participation in competitions at weekends and interschool competitions.
We are very fortunate to have had the pleasure of getting to know David/working with him/being taught by him over the last decade. We are forever grateful to him, and we wish him the very best for the next step in his life and career.
All parents are welcome to gather at the front of the school tomorrow at 2:20pm to give him a send-off.
Road Safety Week 22nd – 26th September
After a number of very successful Road Safety Weeks last year, the PTA would like again to remind pedestrians, cyclists and car drivers in particular to slow down and pay attention while moving around the school’s grounds. We are looking for volunteers to show up during drop off on the week 22nd-26th September to help ensure everyone is following the traffic management plan. Please sign up on the poll on you class what’s app group, or email [email protected] if you can spare 10 minutes to help with this important initiative for the whole school community! PTA Committee
Just a reminder not to park scooters & bikes on the Red Mats under the bike shed.

We are calling for some more brave singers to join our school choir! We continue to build our skills and work with fun singing projects as well as vocal training and harmony – but we need more participants to continue our great progress!
This fun informal group is perfect for anyone who loves to sing, whether you have experience of being in a choir or just love to hum along. We’ll explore a wide range of music, and work towards performances and visiting other choirs over the year to sing together! Through lively and relaxed choral singing, children will discover the joy of music, build their confidence, and make new friends along the way!
