Universal Learning for Learning :UDL By Jorge Anderson
So UDL basically stands for universal design for learning, and it means that everyone gets to learn in their own special way! Not everyone is the same or learns the same- like you’ll have people who need movement breaks, hand signals and other things.
UDL means people can get like whatever they need to learn -some kids need movement breaks like in the Chill zone, some kids are too shy to speak up so they’ll use hand signals, some kids didn’t like the smaller yard, so they made it bigger with more choices of where to play. Some people have sensory issues that might make it hard to learn so we can do things like get them wobble chairs or cushions, some people have ear defenders some people have like fidget toys sometimes just means that some people have very different ways to learn!
Really well done Jorge, you’ve explained it better than I can. We will add this piece to our UDL noticeboard located on the ground floor before the hall. Thank you Caroline for our noticeboard and supporting Jorge with this and all the work on UDL this year.
Go Aryia!
Over the break Ariya raised €3,075 for Lauralynn Locks of Love and cut her hair to donate it to make wigs for children who need them.
Junior Infants had a great time on their school trip to Newbridge Farm! We were even joined by a special guest Róisín!
6th Class School Tour to Flynn Park
It was a joy to join Infants for a bit of farming on Tuesday and 6th class on Wednesday in Flynn Park, best perks of the job!
Third Class had great fun at the Fighting Words workshop yesterday. They worked together to publish a brilliant story called “Jerry and George’s Race”. Please read our story below! Liah
