Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

School closes at 12pm tomorrow, Friday, 11th April 2025.

Alan and Lisa have given us howl after howl coordinating and MCing the PTA Table Quiz over the last bunch of years. Thanks very much to both of you for your time and commitment. You’ll be missed next year but no doubt some newer members to our community will take up the mantle!

PTA Table Quiz
A big thank you to everyone who attended or supported last week’s table quiz at Na Fianna, including the school staff who turned out an impressive 3 tables on the night! It was great fun, and a really important fundraiser for the school, bringing in a little over €2200 to support school activities. Big congrats to this year’s winners pictured below, who moved up from their second placing last year! Finally, huge thanks to Lisa and Alan for all they have done over the years to make the quiz such a successful and enjoyable fixture in the school’s calendar. PTA, Rachael

The 5 aside girls team played their Dublin finals today in DCU. They played their hearts out and were very unlucky not to reach the finals. They were very competitive and only conceded one goal in the whole tournament to go out in the semi-finals. It was a huge day for the girls, and we are super proud of them.

Request from Sylvia
As some of you may be aware, I am doing an MSc. in Psychology at the moment. My area of research is ‘Creativity’ and I’m looking for participants over 18 years of age to participate in a short survey that will provide data for my research. The goal of my research is to investigate whether creative potential can be predicted from personality and participation in everyday creative activities. The outcomes of the research have the potential to be very useful in a variety of settings, including education.
The survey takes only 10 minutes to complete, and participation is completely anonymous. No identifying participant details or personal data are captured in the survey.
If you are interested in participating and helping my research, please click on this link https://openss.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9MhdQTxWWy43zz8 Many thanks, Sylvia

Féile Fichille 2025
A team of eight players from the ECA Chess Club (The Chessnevin Bishops!) travelled to St. Oliver Plunkett’s NS in Malahide to do battle against ten other schools from all over the Northside yesterday. The competition was very stiff, with only one player in the entire event emerging undefeated. Howth National School were the overall winners of the tournament. The children from GETNS performed admirably and finished in fifth place overall. Our top scorer was Patrick from Colm’s 6th Class, who achieved an impressive 5/6. The players showed remarkable fighting spirit and learned valuable lessons from their games. Below are some photos of the players in action. David

Jill and Oisin’s class went to The Axis in Ballymun on Wednesday. They had great fun singing and listening to the music.

The Easter Bunny came early to GETNS!  Some snaps of the children from the ALC Green on an Easter Egg Hunt in the Outdoor Classroom!  Niamh

Thanks to Mark from Na Fianna for a great 8 weeks of fun learning new skills and building confidence.  Dee

Our choir travelled to St Brigid’s GNS in Killester on Wednesday for a workshop with their amazing choir, who have just come from the Feis Ceoil in the RDS where they placed second! Their brilliant principal and choir director Laura Wickham led us all in a singing workshop, and we got the chance to listen to them perform, as well as teach them one of our songs and sing it all together! We’re so grateful to collaborate with other schools and sing together, and are looking forward to our choir growing and what Term 3 will bring for us.  Rebecca

Warning – Take Care!

The path outside Tolka Rovers is very dangerous for kids at present, particularly on bikes and scooters? A couple of children from the school had bad falls off their bikes recently. Can you please contact Dublin City Council to highlight this matter.
