Dear Parents and Guardians /A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

Firstly, thank you for participation in and help with making our first day such a success. Many people were very moved by the warm reception during the procession to the new school.

Please bear with us as we settle in – our Internet is not fully connected yet, and certain procedures and so on are on a trial basis.

While the pedestrian crossing is still a work in progress, please take extreme care on the way into school. We are concerned about safety on such a busy, fast-moving and unfamiliar road. The pedestrian gate opens at 8.35am, but please note that parents are still responsible for their children until school begins at 8.40am. I would like to encourage you to use the set-down area within the school grounds for dropping off children. Please do not park illegally along Griffith Avenue – this is too risky, and will only lead to frustrated motorists making rash manoeuvres. There are other areas to park, e.g. on Griffith Avenue beyond Ballygall Road.

We would like children to keep all food waste, and non-recyclable packaging (e.g. tinfoil), in their lunchboxes. This will enable you to see how much lunch your child has eaten, less food will be wasted, as well as easing our waste management.

Today I spoke to all of the children about taking care in the yard, and also about taking pride and showing appreciation for their new school – furniture, etc.

The first two RAKAs in the new school go to David and Tadhg in Second Class. Well done!

Le meas,
