School Closure for Primary Language Curriculum training on Monday 30th September 2019
Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,
School Secretary Campaign
Thank you to the 6th Class children and all the parents for supporting the strike. This is just the start!
Climate Change Protest
We’re delighted with awareness of our children and how they got their message across last Friday. Thanks to the parents who did a great job on face painting, making us a very colourful bunch among the growing crowd in Albert College Park. There were Green Party and Social Democrat representatives present.
Impressed by the efforts of our school, Noel Rock has requested a visit. He is coming tomorrow to meet with the Green School Committee and Maeve’s class to discuss urgent climate action.
PTA AGM Tonight
The PTA AGM will be held tonight, Thursday 26th September 2019 at 7pm in the School Hall. There will be a talk by Joanna Fortune, a Child Psychotherapist and author of “Fifteen Minute Parenting”, director of Solamh, a Parent/Child Relationships Clinic. All are welcome.
Formation of a new Board of Management
The current Board term is coming to an end and a new Board of Management will be formed. All parents are eligible for nomination and election onto the Board (one male, one female). If you have a particular skillset and this is something that might interest you, please consider it as you’ll hear more soon.
Zeeko Talk to Parents
We’re very disappointed with the low turn out for this important and relevant talk. Thanks to the few who attended. This will be an annual event so please try to make time for it next year.
ECAs
Confirmation emails will be sent tonight. If you have applied for a place and not heard by Friday morning, please email [email protected] Places still remain in Dance, Lego and Spanish (and some others), so if you have an interested child, do let us know ASAP!
Upcoming Events
• Hosting of National Educate Together Forum on Saturday 12th October 2019.
• Highlight of the Term: Awesome Autumn Fair Sunday 20th October 2019. Thank you to all the parents who are already working furiously on this, every bit of help reduces the load.
Frása na Seachtaine: “Cá bhfuil tú in do chónaí? Tá mé i mo chónaí i… Glásnaíon” – “Where do you live? I live in… Glasnevin”

AUTUMN FAIR 2019
Hello again, and with October just around the corner there could only be one thing to talk about: AUTUMN FAIR!!
We have lots of entertainment lined up, making sure this will be an awesome day: a famous illustrator, a Fire Engine, Go Karts and Superheroes are just a few of the new attractions this year, along with the old favourite stalls and Haunted House.
Please do let family and friends know about Autumn Fair. It is a great day out for everyone to enjoy together as a community.
HEEELP!
Thank you to all the parents who have been in touch offering to help! This is much appreciated. We still need lots of people helping out on various of our stalls, namely the Toy Stall, Arts & Crafts, in our Holistic Haven, and in the Beauty Room. Not to mention in our Green Tea Cafe, aptly named, as this year we are really driving Sustainability at the Autumn Fair – an environmentally-friendly drive. We will also need lots of helping hands at set up on Friday 18th October and for clean up at the end of the day on the 20th, from 3pm.
You can bring in your DONATIONS:
This coming week is going to be a big one for the Autumn Fair preparations. From Tuesday 1st October, we will be taking in donations: donate to the school anything that is no longer of value to you, but that could make someone else immensely happy. Donations can include toys, bikes, scooters, books, bric-a-brac, women’s clothing, sports equipment and gear (no shoes or clothes please), arts and crafts, etc. We cannot take electrical items or any car seats.
We ask to please only donate items that are in SELLABLE condition. We really want to cut down on waste this year. Each year a part of the money raised from the Autumn Fair has to go into a skip rental to dispose of waste left from broken or un-sellable items. We ask that you help us remove the need for a skip altogether by donating only items that you would want to buy yourself!
Having said that, we will be waiting to receive donations bright and early Tuesday morning, 1st October (no school on Monday 30th September). In keeping with our sustainable objective, please, place your donations in a reusable shopping bag where possible, inside the main entrance (near ALC). If you want the bag back mark this with RETURN; there will be a box with returnable bags in the entrance hall. Thank you in advance for giving us your donations.
RAFFLE TICKETS:
During the week we will also start the sale of Raffle tickets. There are amazing prizes to be won including hotel breaks, afternoon tea, concerts, gym vouchers, signed books, hampers, and many, many more. So, we encourage you to buy tickets for a chance to win.
Finally, if you would still like to donate anything towards our raffle, feel free to do so. If you own a business or work for a business that could donate to our school, we encourage you to have a chat with them. We can provide you with a letter that can be given for this purpose.
BOOKINGS:
Our Holistic Haven team will be ready to take bookings very soon. If you are interested in any of the therapies provided: Acupuncture, Reiki, Chair Massage and possibly more, get in touch with the Committee for now, contacts for the individual therapies to be released soon.
If you’d like to get in touch about anything Autumn Fair you can do so on [email protected], or you can stop us at any drop off or pick up.
