In GETNS a lot of learning in the Infant Classroom is learning through play, also known as Aistear. Aistear (an Irish word meaning “Journey”) is a framework for developing literacy and numeracy through play, which is very much supported and promoted by the Department of Education and Skills. Working on a new theme each month children will  learn new vocabulary, develop their problem solving skills, work as part of a team as well as developing communication and play skills.
