Dear Parents/Guardians
On behalf of all the staff and Board I am extremely grateful to all of you for the amazingly successful Autumn Fair. As with any big operation it requires more than a couple of leaders so a special thanks to Sineád and Suzanne and all of the Autumn Fair committee who put many hours of work in! Thanks to all 2nd class parents for all you did in preparation and helping out on the day. It’s fantastic to see past pupils coming on board on the day too. We were incredibly impressed on Monday morning with the lack of any indication of anything taking place at the weekend. This is all much appreciated. Finally, thanks to those who organised the Garda presence and First Aiders. See below for lots of photos from the day.
Autumn Fair
Thanks so much for all the support received for the Autumn Fair this year! It was incredibly successful, and we were blessed with the weather staying so dry and bright! A huge thank you has to go to the parents of 2nd class who really got behind the coordinators and took full ownership of their stations. It would not have been such a smooth process without every parent’s involvement! Also big thank you to Nicky for all the help in the run up to the day- it’s much appreciated. Thanks to Daniel for letting the kids throw sponges at him for hours! It’s always a highlight of the day for the children and they loved it! Lastly, thank you so much to all the volunteers, the past pupils and the parents who came along to help and to the children in the school who worked so hard to get the school ready for the fair- we are very grateful for the work that goes on behind the scenes. And to everyone for coming along on the day to support the fair, thank you! Autumn Fair Committee
ET One Day Together – Please support Educate Together on its national celebration and fundraising day
Tomorrow is One Day Together, Educate Together’s national fundraising and celebration day. One Day Together is where our school communities, start-up groups, past-pupils and families up and down the country hold celebrations and fundraisers on behalf of educational charity Educate Together to ensure that we can continue to open and support our fast-growing network of schools. Our school is getting involved in the celebrations and we are helping to spread the word about Educate Together’s work and independent NGO and charity. For more information about the work that the Educate Together national office does in opening and supporting equality-based primary and second-level schools, and to find out how to support this important work. We are also encouraging anyone who wants to donate to Educate Together on our national fundraising day to do so on our official fundraising platform https://www.gofundme.com/f/one-day-together-2024 #OneDayTogether is about our network coming together on one day as a community of schools to celebrate what’s so unique about Educate Together, our shared values and our democratic and equality-based ethos. It’s a great opportunity for us to come together to support each other, and to celebrate the amazing work Educate Together schools do.
Assembly Siobhan’s 2nd class performance for Junior assembly. We spoke about unity and what it means. This is our value of the month.
Kate’s 6th class demonstrated Unity with great talent and creativity including drama (which they wrote themselves), props, dance and singing. A delilghtful celebration of Unity.
OT and Movement equipment – Donations please
We were wondering if families had lying around the house …different types of movement and occupational therapy style equipment such as wobble boards, yoga and padded mats IKEA children’s bentwood chairs and children’s egg chairs with covers? Or any other suggestions for items you have found useful but are no longer are using. These items can prove very expensive, and if families had finished using with, we would be most grateful to receive donations in the spirit of circular economy! We in GETNS are a pilot school for UDL (universal design for learning) and are exploring and considering what it might look like in meeting the needs of various learners. AET team
Lost Property
Can you please claim any lost property that is on display outside the school office. Any items not claimed will be brought to a charity shop during midterm break.
And More!
Jill and Gavin’s 1st class visited the Botanic Gardens’s to sketch the pumpkin display.
Gaeilgeoirí na míosa
The boy’s Gaelic team had a successful season this year. They came up against a very strong Scoil Ghráinne of Phibblestown in the semi-final and unfortunately, missed out on playing in a final at Croke Park. Colm
After losing their first match against Grace Park Educate Together (the eventual cup winners), they went on to win three games in a row, including a brilliant win in the quarter-final away from home in Tallaght against Scoil Chaitlín Maude.
We are really proud of the players and their performances. With the majority of this year’s team being made up of players from 5th class, we will be well placed to make a good run in the competition in the 2025/2026 season.
Well done boys! Colm
Gavin’s first class did wonderful pumpkin paintings
