Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

We have come to near the end of a year we will never forget where we all worked from home for 3.5 months.  We appreciate the great efforts made by all parents during this period; your children and their resilience is a credit to you.  I am very grateful to all the staff, Mick, Nicky, all the teachers, SNAs and Cleaners for their hard work and commitment to keeping us all safe, happy and learning this term.  Even with this exceptional year we are very proud of our achievements:

• All of the children are very good at being nice to each other and inclusive; and at dealing honestly with conflicts as they arise.
• Our school has been showcased for our work on Wellbeing over the last year and a half.
• The Active School Team have kept us active and understanding the benefits of this.
• We have the Creative School’s Award to look forward to in 2021.

I feel we are coming out of an exceptional year all the stronger and with new skills.

Panto

To celebrate the above we are treating the children to the Helix Panto online, Oh Yes We Are!!!

6^th Class Drama

6^th class watched a zoom drama produced by DCU students dealing with children’s rights and then participated in a follow up zoom discussion with the actors, along with Andy in South Sudan, personnel from DCU, Irish Aid, the Ombudsman for Children and Fighting Words.  The childrens’ questions showed great insight and empathy.  Thanks to Sharon in DCU for this opportunity.  Isn’t Zoom amazing, as is drama – a valuable tool, for dealing with important issues in a safe, fun way.

St Vincent de Paul Fundraiser – Novelty Jumper/Top

Our kind children wish to support St Vincent de Paul as always.  This year we invite everyone to wear a Christmas jumper/gear on Tuesday 22^nd December.  However, we would gratefully appreciate if you could bring in donations tomorrow Friday, 18^th December, €1 or €2.

Staggered Leaving Times on Tuesday 22^nd December

In keeping with our COVID prevention measures which are working very well to date, on Tuesday 22^nd December:

• 1^st & 2^nd will leave at 12:05pm
• 3^rd & 4^th will leave at 12:10pm
• All other classes will leave at 12pm

Please remain off the premises as much as possible for this collection time.
