Féile Fichille Chess Tournament 2025
The ECA Chess Club took part in a local school’s chess tournament on Monday 10 th March. A grand total of 33 children from 1 st – 6 th Class marched down to St. Canice’s BNS in Finglas to do battle with the host school, along with Pelletstown ETNS and St. Kevin’s BNS from Finglas.
The event was very well-run and enjoyable for all involved. All the players gave an excellent account of themselves, competing against other children of allages. Some of the children from 1 st Class were delighted when they were able to best much older opposition from 4 th – 6 th Class!
Going into the dramatic final round, only two players in the entire tournament were on a maximum score of 5 points from 5 games: Felix from Sinéad’s 4 th Class and Patrick from Colm’s 6 th . After a gruelling and tense match, Patrick emerged victorious as the sole winner of the tournament on the very impressive score of 6/6. Congratulations to all the children who took part in the event and represented the school so well. Below are some photos of the players in action.
Thanks to Grace for organising and to Justine for accompanying us on the day. David
GET Walk 2025!
Thanks to all the parents, kids, and dogs, who came out to support the school’s sponsored walk on Sunday. It was a great day, the sun shone, and a brilliant 1550 euros raised for maths resources for the school – huge thanks for all the support! And big thanks for all on the PTA Committee who helped to make the day such a success.
Many thanks Rachael for organising such a wonderful fundraising and school community event. The weather was definitely on our side and great to see everyone out together.
Reminder:
• If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home until they are feeling better.
• When dropping or collecting your child early/late to/from school please ensure you close the pedestrian gate securely on your way in and out of the school.
