Dear Parents/Guardians

Super exciting news! Esmay (5th class), champion dancer, will feature on this year’s Late Late Toy Show. Can’t wait!!!

Value for the month is Growth Mindset. This is about practicing thinking in terms of getting better at things, learning all the time etc. rather than I can’t, I can’t do it yet.

Thanks for your generosity in supporting Educate Together. We raised €615 on One Day Together on 25th October 2024. Well done on a great effort for the dress up. Enjoy a few pics here!

Thank you to our wonderful PTA and parent body. We are all very grateful to all of you parents for your positive engagement with the school. The Autumn Fair was a huge success this year, it seemed to run seamlessly with no help from us. The children had a ball and all of the staff appreciate the work and effort in maintaining and leaving the school building and premises behind as if nothing had happened. It felt very much like a cohesive community event, a great example of unity.

Thanks to Rachael and all of the PTA for organising upcoming event, see below.

Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent Teacher meetings will be held In Person on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th November and on Zoom on Thursday 21st November 2024. Your teacher will send you a zoom link for your meeting on the day of the meeting. The Parent Teacher Meetings slots have been sent to you on Aladdin Connect, please book your meeting. You can add a note when you book you meeting slot.

Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the School Library from 1:30pm to 3:30pm from Monday 18th November to Thursday 21st November. For every €1 spent at the Book Fair, 60c will go towards books for the school library. Maybe take this opportunity to buy some presents for birthdays/Christmas. Revolut or cash will be accepted on the day. Watch out for some posters about the fair around the school.

Autumn Fair Cleanup
We are just going to sort out kitchen after the very successful Autumn Fair. Just one last little reminder to please pick up any tins, utensils, pots, trays etc that you might have left in the kitchen/ cafe after the Autumn fair. We are unable to stock surplus items so I will have to do clear out over next two weeks. Thank you, Kitchen Team.

Annual Parent’s Talk
The PTA are delighted to invite all parents and staff in the school to a talk on ‘Sports and Wellbeing for Children’ with former Olympian and Author David Gillick, http://davidgillick.com/portfolio/life-history/.

David was a household fixture for many of us over the summer during the Olympics with his inspiring and insightful TV coverage. David has a wealth of personal experience in sport, as well as in coaching and supporting children, and is qualified in sports management and sports psychology. The PTA are sure his insights will be invaluable for us all as we try to keep our kids active physically, both in school and beyond, and to enhance their overall well-being. His talk will be followed by a Q&A on the night.

Date and Venue: Wednesday 20th November, PE Hall.
Time: David’s talk will begin at 7.15pm. There will be tea and coffee served from 7pm, a nice chance to catch up with other parents.

No need to register, just show up, we’ll be delighted to see as many of you as possible there on what promises to be a great night in the school!

Annual General Meeting of the PTA and Annual Meeting of the Board of Management with Parents
All members of the parent body are warmly welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting of the PTA, which will include the Annual Update from the Board of Management to parents. This is a great chance to learn more about how the school works, its current priorities and challenges, and how parents can continue to support the school in various ways, including through the PTA and its various sub-committees, for example on ECAs and Art Day. All parents and guardians of current GETNS students are members of the PTA and are invited to the AGM. We hope to see as many people as possible there!

• Date and Venue: Wednesday 20th November, PE Hall
• Time: 8. 30 pm

The AGM is also when a new Committee is elected for the year ahead. Class representatives are elected ahead of the meeting. Nomination forms and details on the nomination process will be circulated to all parents shortly. There are also General Member positions on the Committee – these are elected on the night of the AGM and you must be present at the meeting to be eligible for these positions. Any questions about the Committee roles and the election process, or about the PTA in general, should be sent to [email protected].

Reminder:
• If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home until they are feeling better.
• When dropping or collecting your child early/late to/from school please ensure you close the pedestrian gate securely on your way in and out of the school.
