21st January 2016 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians / A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

GETNS Voluntary Donations Tax Effective Giving Scheme

If you donate more than €250 in a calendar year (e.g. €21/month), GETNS is eligible to claim back 31% tax on your kind donation, at no extra cost to you. That means your donation of €250 could be worth €327.50 to GETNS.

From 2013 charities and schools like ours, can claim back 31% on both PAYE and self-assessed tax payers. The scheme is completely confidential. Tax rebates apply to individual or corporate donations but do not apply to money raised through sponsorship.  In order for GETNS to claim the tax relief, all PAYE-only donations above €250 require a CHY3 form to be completed and returned to the GETNS office.

You may like to consider participating in the Tax Refund Scheme 2016 by setting up a Standing Order in 2016 or making a once off contribution at some point during 2016.  Remember you can make the €250 payment at any time in 2016, and payments by standing order can be spread over the year. If you decide to start from February, a standing order of €23 per month until December donates €253 to the school and enables us to claim the extra 31% tax back on your donation!
